Adira (MyAdira) Intimates Period Panties | Full Review

Is it Your Goldilocks Panty?

Adira Intimates is a lifestyle brand from India that offers period panties and other wearable items for women. The word Adira means “strong, noble, powerful” in Hebrew, which seems to align with the founder’s philosophy of empowering women. Adira period undies are designed to be worn as backup to other methods of period protection, like pads or menstrual cups. Their products aren’t intended to replace your usual method of feminine hygiene. The main purpose of using this product is to avoid getting period leaks on your clothing or bedding: Adira was invented to “stain-proof periods.” No one wants to leave a stain behind or have a stained behind, says their website.

How Adira Period Panties Work

Adira menstrual underwear don’t completely replace pads, tampons or menstrual cups. Instead, they’re designed to be worn with a pad or tampon, or you can wear them on their own to protect against light spotting. The crotch on some models is designed with loops to help keep a pad in place without bunching up or sliding out of position. They also have slightly wide crotches to help prevent side-leakage. Interestingly, Adira has patented their period panty design in India and the U.S.

Every Adira period panty has three layers in the gusset:

  1. Top layer: 100% cotton
  2. Middle layer: Leakproof material (probably PUL)
  3. Bottom layer: 100% cotton

All Adira period panties can be handwashed or machine washed “in normal cycle.”

Adira Styles

Adira offers two main styles:

  1. Hipster
  2. Boxer

Both styles offer period-leak protection in the front and back. The Boxer styles extend that protection to the inner thighs to prevent side leaks. Choose the Boxer-fit style on your heaviest days. The Hipster style provides protection for the front and back, but not as much for the sides compared to the Boxer styles.

Adira Period Panties Customer Reviews

There aren’t that many reviews online for this product, but the ones I can find say that the leak-proofing works like it should. There were complaints about high prices, but that seems mostly to have been older reviews when the pricing was much higher than it is now. Some styles of Adira period panties now use a cotton/spandex blend so they will have more stretch than a pair that is 100% cotton—some customers complained about the lack of stretch in these panties.

Adira Intimates has lowered their pricing significantly, which makes sense when you consider that they are only intended for use as backup, so the price is now very affordable. They used to cost about $20 for one pair, now you can get one for half that price or less. Also, Adira recommends that you order period panties one size larger than your usual size for the most comfortable fit.

“This product has made my life easier…I did not have to change my clothes ones when I had my last menstrual cycle…Over all I am very pleased and plan to purchase another pair. Those few days a month just got a lot more manageable.” – Nicole, Amazon Review

“These are horrible. They have absolutely NO stretch to them. The waistband is bunched up and sizing is off by a long shot.” – Lorelai, Amazon Review

Adira Period Panties Final Say

These period panties are specifically tailored toward women who use menstrual pads, especially Adira’s Boxer-style period panties that have loops for holding a pad in place and even a flap where you tuck in the wings. If you wear pads, then these period panties are an excellent choice. It seems like a lot of effort has been put into producing a product that will eliminate leaks, and Adira seems to have achieved their goal. Their trial period is only seven days and the clothing must be in its original packaging for a return, so make sure to check the size chart carefully before placing your order. To sum it up, Adira is an affordable period panty option and a great option when your main concern is eliminating stained clothing and sheets.
